Nisheeth Kakarala joined Villarrubia & Rosenberger P.C. in November 2022. Nisheeth has a long track record working for a variety of organizations and projects – city government, non-profit organizations, family-owned restaurant business, and academia as well. He is certified as an Engineer-In-Training, Competent Leader, and Competent Communicator. He has professional experience working as an Environmental Engineer for the City of Los Angeles.
Nisheeth practices primarily in immigration law and specializes in removal defense such as Asylum, Cancellation of Removal, family-based petitions, adjustment of status, and employment-based immigration matters. He also works closely with the firm’s family law section working in divorce, paternity, child support and custody actions. While in law school he focused on real estate, zoning, and trial advocacy at Pace Law in White Plains, NY.
Nisheeth has experience defending clients detained at ICE detention centers. He regularly works with the Immigration Justice Campaign, a national non-profit organization based in Washington, D.C. in defending aliens and advocating for their release on bond or on their own recognizance. He helps detainees apply for asylum, withholding of removal, and under Convention Against Torture. He is a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) and regularly provides representation on a pro-bono basis for those who desperately need it.
Nisheeth also has a technical background and is an excellent program manager. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Arizona State University in Civil Engineering. At ASU, he studied water and wastewater treatment. He conducted an undergraduate research study in wastewater, studying the fate of Nanosilver in the Wastewater Treatment process and calculated its removal efficiency using bio-sludge. He was a member and the president of a civil engineering honor society called the Chi Epsilon Civil Engineering Honor Society while at ASU. After graduating from ASU, Nisheeth worked for the City of Los Angeles, Public Works Department in the Citywide Recycling Division. He designed, implemented, and managed recycling programs and facilities all across the City of Los Angeles. His specialty was on electronic waste (e-waste), used oil, medical waste, and other household hazardous waste such as paints, pesticides, and other household toxic wastes.
He received his Juris Doctorate from Pace Law in White Plains, NY, where he focused on environmental, real estate, land-use, and intellectual property courses. He also attended Arizona State University as a visiting J.D. student, where he completed one year of his law courses in Phoenix, AZ. While at ASU law, he externed for the Climate Institute in Washington D.C. and focused on environmental law, and intellectual property courses. He is passionate about technology law, intellectual property, and real estate. In his free time, Nisheeth enjoys studying Spanish and Latin cultures, food, and providing free legal services for those who cannot afford it.
Tabitha Villarrubia is a founding partner and co-owner at Villarrubia & Rosenberger, P.C. Ms. Villarrubia’s legal practice requires close interaction with a variety of government agencies, including the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services, National Visa Center, Department of State, Department of Justice, Consular Offices, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Customs and Border Protection, Board of Immigration Appeals, and the Executive Office of Immigration Review.
Katie Rosenberger is co-owner and founding partner at Villarrubia & Rosenberger, P.C. Katie practices Family Law and Immigration Law. Katie is also fluent in Spanish, which allows her to work with a diverse clientele.
